The first annual Center for Inflammation and Mucosal Immunology Research Retreat on October 19 proved to be a success, with approximately 90 participants attending. Sponsored by Genesee Scientific, BD Biosciences, eBioscience and BioLegend, the retreat included sessions of moderated research topics. During poster presentations, nearly 30 researchers addressed topics such as Type I diabetes, multiple sclerosis and inflammatory bowel disease while competing for cash awards totaling $1,000. In addition, participants sat in on lectures from scientists from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City and from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine at Chapel Hill.
